Call for Papers: Human Modelling and Simulation in Automotive Engineering

14 August 2008 ::

2nd International Symposium on:
Human Modelling and Simulation in Automotive Engineering

Conference Announcement and Call for Papers

In May 2007 carhs.training hosted the first International Symposium on “Human Modelling and Simulation in Automotive Safety” in Aschaffenburg (Germany). Scientific lectures from Prof. K-H Yang, Prof. J Wismans, Dr. E Haug and J-P Verriest, presentations of the software manufacturers on the state of the LS-DYNA, PAM-CRASH and Radioss computer models of humans and application reports from Ford-US and GM-US on the usage of numerical Human Models in automotive development formed an excellent conference program. The high level presentations and attendees from 14 nations made the conference a success.

Impressed by the quality of this first symposium the participants suggested to repeat the conference biannually and to extended the scope of the symposium beyond safety applications and to include other aspects of the use of human models in automotive development like comfort and ergonomics. The organizers decided to hold the second “Human Modelling and Simulation Symposium” on 18th and 19th June 2009 in Stuttgart (Germany) as a post conference event right after the 21st ESV conference to give participants of the ESV the possibility to visit the 2009 Human Modelling Symposium. Please note the date in your calendar!

Call for Papers
If you wish to contribute to the 2009 “Human Modelling and Simulation in Automotive Engineering Symposium” please send information on the authors, the title (1 line) and abstract (max. 250 words) of your presentation to Dirk.Ulrich(at)carhs.de before Feb 28, 2009.

Papers for the second “Human Modelling and Simulation Symposium” should address

  • Biomechanical Research
  • Industrial Applications
  • Software, Model Developments

focusing on the theory, development, improvement or application of human simulation models in automotive engineering.

The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the program committee consisting of:
Prof. K-H Yang, Wayne State University, Detroit (MI, USA)
Prof. H-Y Choi, Hongik University, Seoul (Korea)
Dr. E Haug, Aix on Provence (France)
