To enable component manufacturers to reduce the rejection rate of high-strength steels parts Dr.-Ing. Frank Schweizer from the group "Microstructure Residual Stress" of the Fraunhofer IWM further developed methods of numerical welding simulation already used industrially during his dissertation. He can now adjust the events in very limited component locations in the computer. This even works for very rapid temperature changes between room and melting temperature, as they occur during welding.
