PERMAS examines buckling behaviors of geometry variants automatically

![]() | Frequently, high load factors are desired and ribs are a successful means to increase load factors for shell structures. Besides, buckling mode shapes are also of importance, because mode shapes change with rib design. In order to make a rib design with highest load factor and a desired mode pattern, a design exploration is very useful. Frequently high loading reactors are required, which can be achieved very effectively via ribs. In addition, the buckling modes themselves play an important role, because these can also change with the rib height. Thus, in order to achieve a high buckling factor and the desired buckling shape, the examination of different ribbed heights is very helpful. An automatic sampling process integrated into PERMAS allows the automatic examination of the influence of different rib forms and ribbed heights on the buckling and buckling shapes.
