Practical Seminar Introduction to Euro NCAP 2026 ADAS Testing

Description

Since 2016, Euro NCAP has been assessing the effectiveness of active safety systems through specialised dynamic driving tests. During the following years, the requirements increased continually and new test scenarios were developed. Significant additions have also been made for 2026, which are set out in the new protocols for Safe Driving and Crash Avoidance, in line with the new assessment structure. Conducting active safety tests in accordance with Euro NCAP protocols is becoming an increasingly challenging task for testing personnel and developers. The new test scenarios for 2026 further increase the workload. Although official Euro NCAP assessments no longer require the full range of each scenario, all test configurations must still be set up, and for each one multiple verification tests must be conducted. In preparation for the Euro NCAP assessment, virtually all possible tests are usually conducted.

Who should attend?

This practical seminar is aimed at technicians, test engineers and project engineers who are new to the field of active vehicle safety, or who already have some experience in this area and wish to refresh or complete their knowledge of testing and assessment. Thanks to its detailed coverage of all requirements and test procedures, this seminar is of particular interest to all staff members who plan or carry out the driving tests themselves.

Course Objectives

This seminar is designed to provide a basic understanding of the structure of the requirements as well as an overview of all current scenarios in the Euro NCAP protocols for Safe Driving and Crash Avoidance. This is rounded out by an explanation of the grid and verification procedure, as well as the final scoring. In addition, the currently applicable legal requirements are presented. During lectures and practical sessions, the individual test setups are described in detail, and the necessary equipment is demonstrated and explained. Test preparations and the execution of the tests are presented in detail.
