By the end of March, as previously reported, we received a record number of presentation proposals for this year's Human Modeling Symposium. The Scientific Committee reviewed the presentation proposals in April and was impressed by the quality of the proposals. We are currently working on creating an attractive lecture program from the accepted proposals. 
Altair has acquired Germany-based FluiDyna GmbH, a renowned developer of NVIDIA CUDA and GPU-based Computational Fluid Dynamics and numerical simulation technologies in whom Altair made an initial investment in 2015. FluiDyna’s simulation software products ultraFluidX and nanoFluidX have been available to Altair’s customers through the Altair Partner Alliance and also been offered as standalone licenses. 
The European Commission and Europa Nostra have announced the winners of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europe Nostra Awards 2018. 29 award winners from 17 countries were honored for their outstanding achievements in the fields of heritage preservation, research, volunteering, education, training and awareness raising. Annually the automotive CAE Grand Challenge stimulates the exchange between users, scientists and software developers in order to solve the challenges of automotive CAE. High-strength steels play an important role in modern vehicle and mechanical engineering. If these steels are welded in the manufacture of components, mobile hydrogen atoms in the material can cause problems. The atoms slowly accumulate on component areas with high residual stresses, where they make the steel brittle. The result is so-called cold cracks, which can cause component scrap. 
The use of additive manufacturing creates completely new design possibilities in the development of satellite components. For the ERNST nanosatellite, which was built at the Fraunhofer EMI, a mounting manufactured in metallic 3D printing was used for various components, such as infrared camera and optics.
