Interactions between corrosive Media and Materials

article imageThe use of hydrogen as an energy carrier places high demands on the safety and operational stability of components, since even small amounts of hydrogen with ambient air can lead to embrittlement of materials. This increases the demands on materials and components exposed to corrosive ambient conditions such as hydrogen, biogenic or synthetic fuels. Using individual and variable analysis concepts, the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF, carries out investigations under pressurized hydrogen.
