Digitalization of Fire Fighting - Virtual Fire Extinguishing Trainer from EDAG

article imageSafe and fast action by firefighters when fighting a fire or rescuing injured persons from crashed vehicles is indispensable and requires regular training. In order to provide effective assistance in these emergency situations, firefighters must have a perfect command of their equipment and know and be able to apply the correct tactical procedures. The digitalization of the fire department through innovative virtual reality applications can support regular and practical training for firefighters across the board - regardless of the real training objects available. An exemplary application here is the "Virtual Fire Extinguisher Trainer".

Opening up new Lightweight Construction Potential in Vehicles: Research Project on vibro-acoustic Metamaterials launched

article imageIn new vehicle concepts, familiar measures to reduce sound and vibrations collide with the desire for energy efficiency and weight reduction. System designers are therefore faced with design conflicts when designing innovative vehicle structures, to which they must respond with novel components, materials and development methods. Vibro-acoustic metamaterials promise to make a significant contribution here. So far, however, there has been a lack of computer-aided development methods and scalable, economical and quality-assured production processes.
