Rear Crash Prevention Ratings aim to cut Parking Lot Collisions

Parking crashes usually don't result in serious injuries, but repair costs can quickly mount, along with the hassle of going without the family vehicle while waiting for the body shop to finish work. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has launched a rear crash prevention ratings program to help consumers identify models with the technology that can prevent or mitigate low-speed backing crashes. Two systems earn the highest rating of superior, and four earn the second-highest rating of advanced.

New EU Vehicle Safety Standards essential to reducing Child Road Deaths

More than 8,000 children aged 0-14 years have been killed in road traffic collisions over the last ten years in the European Union, new data show. Half of the children killed were travelling in cars, a third were walking and 13 % were cycling, according to a report published by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). The European Commission is expected to announce a long-overdue update of vehicle safety regulations on May 2nd, 2018, almost a decade since the last update.

VTI testing Automation

BASt with ADMA-Slim in Guided Soft Target from ABD ideally set up for Euro NCAP Norm 2018

In the future, the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) will carry out ADAS tests with the miniaturised but fullfledged GNSS/inertial system ADMA-Slim and the ultra-flat soft crash target for vehicles made by Anthony Best Dynamics (ABD). With ADMA-Slim the BASt is now focusing on the established ADMA technology forcentimeter accuracy in positional data acquisition.

TÜV Rheinland releases Wide-Ranging Study on Global Consumer Perception of Autonomous Vehicle Safety

TÜV Rheinland, a leading international testing service provider for quality and safety, announced results from a global survey designed to assess consumer perception of safety of autonomous vehicles in different regions. The survey, conducted among more than 1,000 licensed drivers aged 18 years and above each in China, Germany, and the United States, reveals that trust in technology of completely autonomous cars is nearly twice as high in China as the other two countries.
