Euro NCAP publishes Rating Review 2018

The Euro NCAP Rating Review presents how the strategic items presented in Euro NCAP’s "Roadmap 2025" will be introduced into the Overall Rating Scheme in the years to come and what performance is required for each star level. The content of the Rating Review is based on the decisions made by the Euro NCAP Rating Group and has been agreed by the Board of Directors at its June 2018 meeting.

Automakers use of the Word ‘Autonomous’ a Danger to UK Roads

New Tests show some Bike Helmets protect better than others

ZF and Mobileye to provide new Camera Technology designed to help enhance Safety and Automated Driving

article imageZF announced it will team with Mobileye to launch the S-Cam4 family of advanced cameras in 2018. The ZF S-Cam4 camera family includes a single lens, mono-camera designed to help meet updated test protocols such as Euro NCAP pedestrian triggered automatic emergency braking (AEB), including a crossing bicycle AEB test.

Passenger-side Tests of Midsize SUVs reveal some major Flaws

article imageRecent crash tests of midsize SUVs by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety featured a range of problems, including structural collapse, an airbag nondeployment, hard hits to the dummy's head and an open door. Still, 6 of the 8 vehicles managed to earn a good or acceptable rating for passenger-side small overlap front protection.

Standard Enclusion of Autonomous Emergency Braking increases Ten-fold

article imageThe latest market analysis by independent vehicle safety authority, ANCAP, has revealed a ten-fold increase in the standard fitment of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) in just over two years. ANCAP has been tracking the availability status and market penetration of AEB across the Australian light vehicle market since December 2015 when just 3 per cent of new vehicles sold offered the autonomous braking feature as standard. Today, that figure has increased to 31 per cent.

New EU Type-approval Regulation published

article imageThe new type-approval regulation for motor vehicles (Regulation (EU) 2018/858) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. These regulation will be repealing the current type-approval directive (Framework Directive 2007/46/EC) from September 1st, 2020.
