IAV presents Digital Health Assistant for DriversAs the average age of drivers rises, the likelihood of emergencies behind the wheel due to illness increases. At the same time, many people with pre-existing conditions are unable to use the car or can only do so to a limited extent. Engineering specialist IAV has joined forces with the University of Oldenburg to develop a digital assistant that monitors the driver s health status, accurately detects changes ranging from shortness of breath to heart attack and automatically initiates rescue measures in an emergency.
read more ... Kangoo and Mokka return with four Stars in Euro NCAP Safety TestsIn the latest round of Euro NCAP tests, the new Renault Kangoo and Opel Mokka both earn four stars. The Mercedes-Benz GLA and electric Mercedes-EQ EQA are given ratings based on the 2019 five-star rating of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, from which the vehicles are largely derived. Finally, the Cupra Leon gets a 2020 five-star rating carried over from its twin, the SEAT Leon.

These systems are designed to improve the driving experience while providing additional safety measures to lessen the severity or even prevent a crash. Dynamic Responses of Feamle Volunteers in Rear Impact Sled Tests at two Head Restraint DistancesThe objective of this study, conducted within the VIRTUAL project, was to assess the biomechanical and kinematic responses of female volunteers with two different head restraint (HR) configurations when exposed to a low-speed rear loading environment. A series of rear impact sled tests comprising eight belted, near 50th percentile female volunteers, seated on a simplified laboratory seat, was performed with a mean sled acceleration of 2.1 g and a velocity change of 6.8 km/h.
