 IAV presents Digital Health Assistant for DriversAs the average age of drivers rises, the likelihood of emergencies behind the wheel due to illness increases. At the same time, many people with pre-existing conditions are unable to use the car or can only do so to a limited extent. Engineering specialist IAV has joined forces with the University of Oldenburg to develop a digital assistant that monitors the driver s health status, accurately detects changes ranging from shortness of breath to heart attack and automatically initiates rescue measures in an emergency.

In the latest round of Euro NCAP tests, the new Renault Kangoo and Opel Mokka both earn four stars. The Mercedes-Benz GLA and electric Mercedes-EQ EQA are given ratings based on the 2019 five-star rating of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, from which the vehicles are largely derived. Finally, the Cupra Leon gets a 2020 five-star rating carried over from its twin, the SEAT Leon.
Today, nearly every new vehicle comes equipped with at least one vehicle safety system like automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assistance. These systems are designed to improve the driving experience while providing additional safety measures to lessen the severity or even prevent a crash. While vehicle technology continues to rapidly change, the safety standards used to rate the crashworthiness of these vehicles have not caught up.
The SAFER A-HBM5 project follows on from four previous projects; A-HBM steps I-IV, from 2008 to today. This is state-of-the-art research on car occupant muscle responses and development of active human body models (HBM) and is part of a continuous line of research projects working in sequence towards the evolution of an even more advanced SAFER Human Body Model.
Volvo Cars' forthcoming fully electric flagship SUV will have industry-leading safety technology as standard, helping to save even more lives as the company sets a new benchmark for automotive safety. New TrackReport crash test regulation templates are now available. ORME regularly updates its templates list based on evolving standards (for instance Euro NCAP 2020 and China NCAP 2021) but also adds new standards to its regulation template list. In 2020, KNCAP, Latin NCAP, ARCAP templates were developed.
The objective of this study, conducted within the VIRTUAL project, was to assess the biomechanical and kinematic responses of female volunteers with two different head restraint (HR) configurations when exposed to a low-speed rear loading environment. A series of rear impact sled tests comprising eight belted, near 50th percentile female volunteers, seated on a simplified laboratory seat, was performed with a mean sled acceleration of 2.1 g and a velocity change of 6.8 km/h.
As vehicle technology and safety systems continue to evolve, State Farm and Ford are working together for the benefit of their shared customers.
