For the first time, 3D printing is an integral part of the preparations for series production in the Audi e-tron GT, so that all aids for assembly and pre-assembly are available at the start of production.

The newly created software replaces the time-consuming process of manually modeling models in CAD and thus ensures faster processes. With their use, the time for the construction of production aids is reduced by 80 percent.

With our software, it is possible to create pre-assembly devices almost automatically. This enables us to implement the necessary work tools quickly and flexibly and also to respond to the individual requirements of the planners or colleagues on the line, - explains project manager Waldemar Hirsch, head of the team of experts for 3D printing in the start-up and analysis center at Audi Neckarsulm. The software is precisely tailored to the needs of Audi and at the same time a building block for the digitization of production at the site.
