On April 17-18 the 10th automotive CAE Grand Challenge will be held in Hanau, Germany. In the presentations, workshops and the exhibition, you will receive information on the current challenges of simulation in automotive development. During the breaks and at the evening event there is time for discussion with other experts of automotive CAE.

In September 2017 we have determined the 7 most critical current challenges of automotive CAE through a survey among the CAE experts of the international automotive industry. These form the topics of the sessions of the automotive CAE Grand Challenge 2018:

  • CAE general: CAE process supporting the development of physical prototypes
  • Crash: Overload and crash behavior of battery packs
  • Durability: Fatigue analysis of plastics and composites
  • Materials: Failure models for cast aluminum parts in crash
  • NVH: Prediction of engine and gear noise of electrical drives
  • Optimization & robustness: Robust design through numerical analysis
  • Safety: Meshing, folding and pre-processing of airbags

At the conference speakers from industry, research and software development will report on their work to overcome the current challenges of the automotive CAE.
