An important comparison between experimental modal analysis and dynamic eigenvalue analysis (PERMAS module DEV) is between the measured and calculated natural frequencies and between measured and calculated natural modes. While the natural frequencies can be directly compared, the MAC matrix (MAC - Modal Assurance Criterion) has been established for the comparison of the natural modes. Each waveform of the experiment is compared with every waveform of the analysis and vice versa. The values of the MAC matrix are between zero and one. Values close to one indicate a strong similarity of the waveforms, while small values indicate different waveforms.
