The project is being handled by the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM as part of the "Simulation- and Software-based Innovation" performance center. Automated operation, resource efficiency and CO2 savings are the cornerstones of the project. What are the concrete goals of the project? Klaus Dreßler, Head of the Department of Mathematics for Vehicle Development at the Fraunhofer ITWM: "The dynamic development of new assistance systems, including autonomous operation, as well as new requirements for energy efficiency and alternative drive systems, also call for new simulation methods for virtual protection. For construction machinery, for example, we are developing new methods for interactive simulation of, for example, grabbing and loading processes, which include the driver and the material interaction." In the future, the most efficient working strategies can be derived on the basis of the simulation models.
