Optimized Injection Molding Tool produces Short Fiber reinforced Panels for Unidirectional Specimens

The tool enables the production of unidirectional, short glass fiber reinforced panels, from which test specimens can be made. For this purpose, the tool was designed so that the reinforcing fibers are oriented approximately unidirectionally (UD) in the flow direction. The specimens can be cut from the plate at any angle to the flow direction to determine parameters for the material description. The new specimen geometry provides angle-dependent material characteristics. As a result, materials can be optimally modeled and components simulated, which increases precision when designing a new component and ensures competitive advantages.
