![]() ESI announces Keynote Speakers for its Global Forum 2014 held on 21 and 22 May in Paris, FranceESI’s worldwide conference on Virtual Product Engineering will again bring together simulation engineers from around the world to share expertise, best practices, challenges and successes in Virtual Prototyping. Recently ESI announced the Keynote Speakers of the event, coming from Airbus, Areva, Nissan, Renault and Volkswagen. >> 3rd Conference Dynamic Simulation in Vehicle Engineering held on 22 and 23 May 2014 in St. Valentin, AustriaIt‘s the third time this conference is organized as a specialized discussion platform for dynamic simulation featuring: Vehicle dynamics and comfort, load generation for durability analysis, acoustics (structure borne noise and radiation), vibrations in engine and drive train, combining measurement and simulation, new analysis methods and tools. At the conference new features of FEMFAT will be presented that deliver a significant increase in analysis capabilities and usability. Use the opportunity for an exchange with experts from automotive industry, mechanical engineering and research institutes. >> 7th Symposium Virtual Vehicle on 27 and 28 May, 2014 in Graz, AustriaFunctional safety, complex drivetrains or the interaction of vehicle and infrastructure are only some of the current challenges in vehicle development. More than ever a perfect collaboration of different disciplines is essential to tackle these tasks successfully. How do processes, methods, development tools and context-based information allocation help to enable an interdisciplinary perspective of the entire system? This year’s symposium will concentrate on relevant aspects and topics of virtual vehicle development. Focus is laid on a holistic system view rather than on single discipline perspective. Therefore international experts from industry and science will be invited to Graz. As in the last years a well-balanced combination of lectures and discussion groups as well as possibilities for exchange will be provided. >> ![]() From injection molding simulation to structural analysisTo increase the accuracy of FEM analyzes of injection molded components CADFEM has developed MoldSim. MoldSim is integrated into ANSYS Workbench and is available for ANSYS mechanical applications. With MoldSim data can be imported from an injection molding simulation and subsequently be used independent of the availability of the injection molding simulation software. After reading in the mesh, fiber orientations and initial stresses (optional), the data are mapped and automatically assigned to the component for the structural analysis with ANSYS. The matrix and fiber properties are translated by homogenization into local material properties. >> New: Optimization module in Abaqus/CAEWith the release of Abaqus 6.13-AP2 SIMULIA is introducing an optimization module within Abaqus/CAE. It allows users to take full advantage of the new Tosca Structure 8.0 functionalities. The new sizing optimization module in Tosca Structure 8.0 enables engineers to obtain an optimum relation between weight, stiffness, and dynamic behavior in sheet metal design. Additionally the new advanced capability Tosca Structure.morph, a solution for quick and easy mesh-based geometry changes, is available. With this module design variants can be simulated immediately without re-creating the simulation setup and thus enabling accelerated design decisions. The availability of the new optimization module within Abaqus/CAE allows for a fast and easy access of Tosca Structure directly from Abaqus/CAE which makes pre- and post-processing much easier. >> ![]() Altair receives Boeing Performance Excellence AwardAltair, a leading global provider of simulation technology and engineering services that empower client innovation and decision-making, announced that its product development services division, Altair ProductDesign, has received a 2013 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. To qualify for the award, Altair maintained a Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013. >> ANSYS honors students competing in the BAJA SAEIndia All-Terrain Vehicle development contestANSYS congratulated two teams competing in the BAJA SAEIndia all-terrain vehicle (ATV) development contest by presenting them with an Engineering Simulation award. Team Nemesis from the College of Engineering at Pune University and Vellore Institute of Technology's Team Kshatriya successfully leveraged ANSYS simulation for their individual ATV designs. Teams typically don't have the time or funds to build multiple prototypes, so employing engineering simulation fosters increased design reliability and performance at a low cost, within tight deadlines. BAJA SAEIndia is a national competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This year's event was held at NATRIP in Pithampur, Indore, India. 327 teams officially registered but only 125 teams qualified for the final race. >> FE-Design Karlsruhe has moved – new address since April 11thFE-Design Karlsruhe employees are pleased about moving into new offices (The new address is: FE-DESIGN GmbH, c/o Dassault Systèmes, Albert-Nestler-Str. 17, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany). At this new address FE-Design also has state-of-the-art seminar facilities and hopes to welcome you some time in the new office for a visit or for attending a seminar. >> |
