With AUROOM, BASF's Coatings Division has created a digital platform that provides designers with a database of photorealistic, virtual car colors. BASF's virtual color palette encompasses all facets of automotive coatings, including iridescent shades and glitter effects. 
To ensure the digital networking of production systems and the optimization of material-specific requirements, we need to measure, analyze and replicate the changes in material properties in a process in which “digital twins” of materials are created. The materials data space developed by Fraunhofer researchers has laid the groundwork for this process. 
The analysis of the sensor data of machines, plants or structures makes it possible to detect unusual conditions at an early stage and thus avoid damage. For this purpose, the data is searched for abnormalities, so-called anomalies. Machine learning can already partially automate this anomaly detection. 
Siemens announced it has acquired COMSA Computer und Software GmbH, a Munich-based company which develops software for electrical systems design and wire harness engineering.
