TU Graz and KFV simulate Sleigh Accidents with Human Body Models

article imageMore than 2,200 people are injured in tobogganing accidents in Austria every year. On a long-term average, two of them end fatally. In the 2019/20 tobogganing season five people died. Collisions with stationary obstacles such as trees are among the most frequent causes of death. Researchers from the Austrian Road Safety Board (KFV) and the Institute for Vehicle Safety at Graz University of Technology have now used calculations and computer simulations with virtual human models to investigate which measures can reduce the risk of injury while tobogganing.
