Seminar: Crashworthy and Lightweight Car Body Design

article imageWhen developing car bodies, a wide range of requirements must be taken into account. One key discipline is vehicle safety, whose requirements must be met by the car body while observing lightweight design principles. To this end, engineers need in-depth knowledge of the crash behavior of mechanical structures. This knowledge and the use of modern development tools for design and simulation enable efficient development without unnecessary iteration loops. Engineers also need knowledge of the possibilities offered by modern lightweight construction. The seminar covers both of these areas! The seminar is aimed at designers, analysis, and test engineers, as well as project managers and executives from the field of car body development. The trainer is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Schumacher from the University of Wuppertal.

NVH Effects in Drivetrains: Too Complex for Simulation?

article imageThe answer is no. Use the Ansys Motion Drivetrain Toolkit: in the operating range of electric drive systems consisting of an electric motor and transmission, disruptive effects such as howling or rattling can occur. Causes and possible damage consequences can be simulated quickly and efficiently for the entire operating range - e.g., acceleration up to maximum speed-using transient simulation.

COMSOL Blog: Optimizing Battery Pack Lifetime Using Simulation-Aided Design

article imageLifetime predictions are paramount when designing battery systems, large and small. In this blog post, Comsol presents a method for performing these investigations efficiently and quickly with simulation by using new reduced-order models. This method is a paradigm shift from the traditional build-and-test method or using generalized design principles, which can be expensive, slow, and imprecise when trying to design systems that are to last decades. In the scope of the new method, the COMSOL Multiphysics® software shines bright with its multi-physics modeling capabilities and, very importantly for this showcase, its implementation of surrogate modeling for model order reduction.

Scalable Digital Twins: TRK500/700 Neo and AAI RepliMap in Real-World Use

article imageDigital twins of real environments are now a key basis for simulation, validation, and planning - especially where physical testing is expensive, time-consuming, or only possible to a limited extent. The decisive factor here is not only the precision of data acquisition, but above all the fast and economical transfer of data into simulation-capable, standard-compliant models.

Integrating Aerodynamics Into Early Design

article imageMaximizing vehicle range and performance requires precise balance between design aesthetics and aerodynamic efficiency. Traditional design processes fragment creative and engineering teams into separate workflows. This separation limits the impact of aerodynamic performance feedback on early vehicle designs, potentially causing significant delays and costly modifications late in development cycles. A unified approach now integrates advanced aerodynamic simulation directly into early concept design stages.
