 Euro NCAP launches #TestingAutomationOn October 18, Euro NCAP presented in Penzing near Munich the first systematic evaluation program for automated driving functions under the heading #TestingAutomation. In the first test round, 10 vehicles (Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, DS 7 Crossback, Ford Focus, Hyundai NEXO, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S, Toyota Corolla, Volvo V60) were tested with highway assistants that support the driver in longitudinal and lateral control. read more ... On October 18 - 19, 2018 carhs and the Bioengineering Center at the Wayne State University (Detroit, MI, USA) successfully held the 7th International Symposium "Human Modeling and Simulation in Automotive Engineering" in Berlin, Germany. The prize for the best work of a young scientist has been awarded this year to Niclas Trube from the Fraunhofer EMI research institute for his presentation: "Simulated muscle responses upon frontal crash pulses considering changes in muscle stiffness using THUMS v5" read more ... The Hyundai NEXO is the first hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle that Euro NCAP has tested, and it is positive to see it achieving a maximum five star rating. The fourth generation Mercedes-Benz A Class, the Mazda 6 and Lexus ES all also achieve a maximum five stars. The Peugeot Rifter and its stablemates, the Citroën Berlingo and Opel/Vauxhall Combo, achieve 4 stars. 
In an effort to incorporate safety as an integral part of the sales conversation, crash-tested vehicle wrecks are entering new car dealership showrooms across the country – in metropolitan and now regional dealerships. “Dealers are crucial advocates for ANCAP and the safer vehicles message,” said ANCAP Chief Executive, Mr James Goodwin.
