First Rating System for Motorcycle Clothing launched

article imageAustralian motorcycle and scooter riders will have online access to a world first rating system for motorcycle clothing, with launch of the Motorcycle Clothing Assessment Program – MotoCAP. The Transport Accident Commission, VicRoads and RACV have partnered with agencies to develop the program, which will give riders more information when choosing what they wear when riding.

New CRS Tests Results for Latin America Region

article imageA new round of results of the Latin American Child Restraint Systems Evaluation Programme, PESRI, was released with the safety performance of 11 Child Restraint Systems (CRS) models sold in Latin America region. PESRI aims to raise awareness amongst consumers on the relevance of CRS use, generate consumer information on safety performance and deliver input for the Latin NCAP reference list.

GM Front Crash Prevention Systems cut Crashes

article imageAn IIHS study of General Motors vehicles with optional front crash prevention systems adds to the evidence that forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking prevent crashes. GM vehicles with autobrake and forward collision warning had 43 percent fewer police-reported front-to-rear crashes of all severities and 64 percent fewer front-to-rear crashes with injuries than the same vehicles without any front crash prevention technology.

MESSRING and Calspan build "Crash Test Facility of the Year 2018“

Volkswagen and Siemens make Crossroads safer

Headlights improve, but base Models leave Drivers in the Dark

Draft UN Regulation on Blind Spot Information Systems

article imageOver the last 18 months, there has been a prevalence of cyclist and pedestrian accidents and deaths caused by right-turning trucks, particularly in Germany. As a result, UNECE’s World Forum for the Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) established an Informal Working Group on Awareness of Vulnerable Road Users proximity in low speed manoeuvres (VRU-Proxi), tasked with preparing a "Draft Regulation on Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS)".

EU Council agrees to tougher Rules on Vehicle Safety

article imageThe EU is introducing legislation which will require various safety features to be included on a range of vehicles with the aim of saving lives on Europe’s roads. The Council agreed its position on the new rules which means that negotiations can begin with the European Parliament as soon as it has adopted its position.
