Midsize Cars stumble in updated Side Test

Only three of seven midsize cars tested earn good or acceptable ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety s updated side crash test. The Subaru Outback is the only midsize car to earn a good rating. With somewhat higher levels of occupant compartment intrusion, the Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Jetta manage acceptable ratings.

New Safety System to protect Cyclists and Pedestrians

article imageVolvo Trucks is now introducing a new safety system to detect other road users entering the blind spot on both sides of the truck. In busy traffic situations, it is difficult for even the most experienced driver to perceive everything around the truck. To prevent stressful situations for the driver, Volvo Trucks is offering its new safety system. Using a dual radar on each side of the truck, the system detects when other road users, for example cyclists, enter the risk area.

Many Motorcycles without modern Safety Technology

article imageThe Allianz Center for Technology analyzed 500 randomly selected motorcycle accidents for its two-wheeler study. All types of damage, from property damage to personal injury, were included. The study showed only one-third of the motorcycles were equipped with ABS. Combination brakes and cornering ABS were also not often represented.

Hyundai Mobis to become the First to develop an integrated Vital Signs Controller for safe Driving
