Mentor Graphics is a pioneer and leader in design automation software ranging from Integrated Circuit (IC) and System-on-Chip (SoC) design to automotive electronics solutions. Through the acquisition Siemens becomes the unique digital industrial player to offer mechanical, thermal, electrical, electronic and embedded software design capabilities on a single integrated platform. 
Granta Design and JAHM Software, Inc. announced an agreement to make JAHM’s extensive temperature-dependent materials property data available within Granta’s industry-leading materials software, GRANTA MI™ and CES Selector™. The data includes over 2,800 materials (including metals, plastics, and ceramics) and 24,000 sets of temperature-dependent data for elastic modulus, thermal expansion, thermal conductivity, S-N fatigue curves, stress-strain curves, and more. 
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Over the next years, twelve project partners will develop standards for cooperative driving functions intended to make networked vehicles safer and more comfortable. 
Using parametric modelling in the design process allows for an efficient variation of geometry. FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS is developing methods for their product CAESES® that would allow optimizing complex parameterized freeform geometries under consideration of all model parameters of the complete design space at a relatively low computational expense. 
AutoForm Engineering GmbH has announced the decision of Volkswagen’s tool shop to use AutoForm-ProcessDesignerforCATIA software for their process design. This strategic decision is based on the excellent results achieved during a successful joint project. By using AutoForm-ProcessDesignerforCATIA software, which includes a standard methodology for process design in the CATIA environment, daily work at the Volkswagen’s tool shop can be carried out even more efficiently.

For many structures, buckling is an important design constraint and has to be checked by buckling analysis. Mainly beam and shell structures are subject to buckling. To check the buckling performance a linear buckling analysis to calculate buckling load factors and buckling mode shapes is used.
