Materials according to Recipe: With the Powder Kit for more Flexibility and Material Variety in 3D PrintingPowder-based laser beam melting (LPBF) is probably the most well-known AM process and has great potential for industrial application. How can the limited range of materials for this process be overcome and the market potential further expanded? The IWM of the RWTH Aachen and the Fraunhofer IFAM investigated this question in the "LPBF powder construction kit" project funded by the AiF. As a result, a sustainable solution for the individual and robust production of metal powder mixtures was developed, so that the user can reach the desired material properties with a small selection of metal powders and adjust the alloys flexibly.
