To prevent human injury in traffic accidents it is necessary to understand the biomechanics of impact. This can be achieved through experimental studies with volunteers or post-mortem human subjects. Mechanical anthropometric crash test dummies have been developed to provide tools for the development and assessment of safety systems under specific loading scenarios. With increasing computer capacity, human body models have become popular tools. This course covers the basics of impact biomechanics, such as human anatomy, population variance, mechanical properties of human tissues, and injury criteria. Finally, it focuses on computational models of the human body and their use in developing and evaluating safety systems. Karin Brolin is an internationally renowned expert in impact biomechanics and human modeling. 
Synopsys announced the completion of its acquisition of Ansys. The transaction, which was announced on January 16, 2024, combines leaders in silicon design, IP and simulation and analysis to enable customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. Synopsys is now positioned to win in an expanded $31 billion total addressable market (TAM).
AVL RACETECH and IDEC SPORT Racing have entered into a long-term partnership. IPG Automotive and Bosch initiate a competition for virtual EV development. The transition to electromobility is making great strides worldwide. With a clear focus on EV-specific challenges, the competition offers students a practical and future-oriented platform to research electric vehicle technologies and test them under realistic conditions. The aim of the competition is to cover a long distance on a highly frequented Indian road as quickly and efficiently as possible. Origin and concept are inspired by the AV Challenge 2021 in Korea.
A Master's thesis by Francesco Pais, completed at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, introduces an innovative approach to the biomechanical characterization of the L1 vertebral body. The study, titled "A characterization of the vertebral body of L1 vertebra s mechanical properties through Statistical Shape and Appearance Modelling", is now available for download and represents a significant contribution to the field of computational biomechanics.
