With the THOR 50th percentile midsize male (THOR-50M) Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD) design nearly mature and a large population of the dummies having been extensively tested, there's now a high demand to expand the advancement in performance to other occupant groups such as the fifth percentile small female.

Representatives from Euro NCAP were here reviewing the results and lessons learn’t - with the objective of ensuring that ANCAP test results from Australia can be recognised internationally. 
While road fatalities have more than halved since 2001, 25,300 people still lost their lives on EU roads in 2017 and another 135,000 were seriously injured. The Commission is therefore taking measures with strong EU added-value to contribute to safe roads and to a Europe that protects. The Commission is proposing that new models of vehicles are equipped with advanced safety features, such as advanced emergency braking and lane-keeping assist system for cars or pedestrian and cyclists' detection systems for trucks. 
Applus+, has acquired a majority position of KARCO Engineering, LLC., a company based in the city of Adelanto, California, which provides engineering and testing services, mainly in the field of passive safety for the Automotive industry. KARCO is an independent crash test laboratory and automotive research centre devoted to providing research and development, design evaluation, compliance, certification, and highway testing services.
The New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) recently performed three of its latest crash tests for the second quarter of 2018. The three tested models were Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid, Toyota Rush and Toyota C-HR.
The March crash of an Uber vehicle that killed a woman in Tempe, Arizona, was unusual for involving a self-driving vehicle. But in other ways, it was typical of fatal pedestrian crashes: an SUV traveling on an urban arterial road struck a person crossing midblock in the dark. Pedestrian deaths have jumped 46 percent since reaching their lowest point in 2009, as pedestrian crashes have become both deadlier and more frequent. 
DENSO Corporation announced it has released a retrofittable driver status monitor to help reduce the number of traffic accidents involving commercial vehicles, such as trucks and buses. The safety product checks for distractions, drowsiness, sleep, and inappropriate posture based on the driver’s facial image, which is captured through a camera installed in the cabin.
