 India approves Draft GSR Notification to introduce Bharat NCAPUnion minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari has approved the Draft GSR Notification to introduce Bharat NCAP. It is proposed to insert a new rule 126E in CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rules), 1989 regarding the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). The Articulated Pedestrian Adult Target replicates a 50% male adult in terms of size, shape, realistic sensor signature and leg articulation and complies with all specifications of the NCAP and ACEA guidelines as well as the ISO 19206-2 standard.

Autoliv demonstrates the possibilities of powered two-wheeler airbags in a crash test attended by the Minister of Transport of Malaysia. The test was conducted in relation to the tenth anniversary of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) laboratory.
With the founding of the joint venture Rheinmetall Dermalog SensorTec GmbH, the technology group Rheinmetall and the biometrics company DERMALOG are aiming to bring enhanced safety to road traffic. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said data released by NHTSA on advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving systems is a welcome first step in NHTSA's efforts to protect the public from potential safety risks involving these systems. Homendy said that while the NTSB will study the data before coming to any conclusions, the fact that the data exists at all is positive. The NTSB has long called for better and more retrievable data in investigating crashes involving vehicles with ADAS and ADS.

Safety is a decisive factor in the realization of autonomous driving. ASAM e. V. has addressed the question of which test procedures are needed to make highly and fully automated driving safe. Experts and stakeholders from 24 organizations, including manufacturers, suppliers, testing companies and research institutes, have jointly developed a blueprint that describes this challenge and identifies possible solutions.
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that Dr. Steven Cliff has been confirmed as the 16th Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Nominated by President Biden on October 19, 2021, Dr. Cliff, who had been serving as Deputy Administrator, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 26.
Advanced technologies designed to help drivers navigate intersections could address a third of the crashes that cause older driver injuries and fatalities, a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows. "Left turn assist and other, upcoming intersection-assistance technologies could deliver big safety benefits for drivers in their 70s and 80s," says the paper's author, IIHS Research Associate Aimee Cox.
Researchers have created a machine-learning system that efficiently predicts the future trajectories of multiple road users, like drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, which could enable an autonomous vehicle to more safely navigate city streets.
