ZF's Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division has presented the future of intelligent truck-trailers by unveiling two advanced innovation vehicles. Uniquely able to combine truck and trailer technologies with its unparalleled systems capabilities, ZF is setting new industry benchmarks for combined truck-trailer safety and efficiency. The prototypes also demonstrate ZF's acceleration of autonomous, electric and digital technologies, offering clear proof-points for ZF's 'Next generation Mobility' strategy.

Volkswagen is focusing its development activities for autonomous and highly automated driving. In the area of autonomous driving as a service (MaaS/TaaS), the Group is consolidating its development partnerships. Volkswagen will no longer invest in Argo AI. In individual mobility, Cariad is continuing to drive forward the development of highly automated and autonomous driving together with Bosch and, in the future, in China with Horizon Robotics.
Continental presented the results of the fifth and thus final project of the interdisciplinary research cooperation PRORETA with the Technical University of Darmstadt, the University of Bremen (both in Germany) and the Technical University of Iasi in Romania. The project was dedicated to one of the most demanding tasks for automated driving: the recognition of complex traffic situations in inner cities and the question of how algorithms can derive the right driving decisions in these situations from sensor data.
People use their eyes and ears to pick up on traffic situations involving potential hazards. For self-driving vehicles to do the same thing, they need a whole host of sensors. As the number of sensors they contain increases, however, so too does the amount of space required to fit them in - something that is often incompatible with the vision of designers. Now, researchers at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have discovered a method of integrating certain sensors discreetly. Their solution lies in the vehicle's headlights, where they are combining optical light, radar and LiDAR.
onsemi collaborats with Israel-based Ride Vision on the development of advanced safety solutions for motorcyclists. Ride Vision's industry-leading Collision Aversion Technology (CAT) for motorcycles uses machine-vision with artificial intelligence (AI) and works based on high-dynamic range data captured by AR0147AT automotive-grade image sensors from onsemi. CAT provides riders with timely warnings about impending dangers on the road, avoiding a high percentage of accidents and helping save lives.
NI announced its latest advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) offering: a unified test system architecture to move iteratively between data replay and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. Validating the perception, planning and control algorithms running on ADAS electronic control units (ECUs) is key to ensuring that safe and reliable vehicles reach the market. The NI Replay and HIL AD system can aggregate and inject real-world road test data or simulation scenarios to test ADAS ECUs.
