As part of recent updates to FMVSS 210, NHTSA will require manufacturers to use FADs as the standard test method beginning September 1, 2027. Early compliance is already an option. For seat manufacturers, this presents a key advantage. Adopting Force Application Devices (FADs) now gives design teams the opportunity to validate early, reduce risk, ease transitions, and ensure compliance well ahead of the deadline.
The Indian made Nissan Magnite achieved a five star result for adult and three stars for child occupant safety. In a process of continuous improvement, Nissan introduced a series of safety enhancements to the Magnite, such as six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC), after which it submitted the model for a voluntary round of testing.
Mack Trucks introduced Mack Protect, its new proprietary active safety and collision mitigation system, debuting with the all-new Mack Pioneer Class 8 highway truck. This comprehensive safety technology package represents a significant shift from the Bendix Fusion system previously used across Mack's Class 8 product line to a proprietary collision mitigation system, delivering enhanced protection with features specifically engineered for Mack trucks.
The Safety Control Center project shows how the safe, connected mobility of tomorrow is already becoming a reality today. The project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, aims to link autonomous shuttles with an intelligent control center in order to monitor vehicle status in real time and control them remotely if necessary.
The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries or ASEAN NCAP announced its first assessment result for 2025. The new Nissan Almera achieved a 4-Star rating under the current ASEAN NCAP 2021 2030 protocol, earning an overall score of 74.74 points. In the assessment, the sedan achieved 36.34 points for the AOP category, 16.35 points for the COP category, 13.74 points for the SA category, and 8.30 points for the MS category.
Remote attacks pose one of the greatest threats to vehicle cybersecurity. To verify whether a vehicle is sufficiently protected against such attacks, it must be isolated from the outside world. This allows self-generated radio signals to attempt to overcome the vehicle's protective functions. For this purpose, IAV has established a test chamber at the Gifhorn site that is hermetically shielded from radio networks.
With steer-by-wire, the fixed mechanical transmission between the steering wheel and the wheels, is replaced by variable, pure software connection. This provides almost limitless possibilities for the design of the steering-ratio. In modern, software-defined vehicles, the technology ensures more precise maneuvering, more stability and safety as well as optimal responsiveness. In addition, the Steer-by-Wire system allows for new steering wheel and cockpit designs.

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has developed new methods for evaluating the performance and efficiency of fuel cell technology in hydrogen-powered vehicles without the need for test tracks or dynamometers. SwRI has created a novel controller system for hydrogen-powered vehicles that grants full authority over their fuel cell engines.
Safe-driving apps promise to save money for careful drivers. But their impact on safety research - opening up a completely new data source with many unique advantages - could be even more significant. Unlike data from more traditional sources, telematics data from these apps are collected on every drive over the entire duration of the trip and interlinked with time and location information that provides vital context.
Imagine a world where cars, buses, and traffic lights communicate with each other in real time. It's not science fiction - it's C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems). While the technology has been tested in multiple Swedish and European pilots, a cohesive national strategy and robust deployment framework is still missing in Sweden.
