The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and Humanetics India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and technology initiatives aimed at advancing automotive safety and mobility outcomes in India. The partnership establishes a framework for cooperation across areas, including passive and active safety, ergonomics, anthropometry, virtual testing, and the development of India-specific human models and safety tools.
Refuse trucks provide an essential public service, but the nature of their role means they present potential hazards to both operators and other road users. Operating conditions that include frequent stops and starts, passing traffic, and people working near the vehicle pose substantial challenges for vehicle manufacturers in designing and delivering safe vehicles.
The MGA Research team played a central role in the development of the FMVSS 225 Clearance Angle and Depth Tools by taking NHTSA's original drawings and fabricating the first versions of both. Once complete, MGA engineers began measuring a range of vehicle seats to gather feedback, gain practical experience, and establish best practices for tool use. Through this process, the team identified opportunities to enhance the tools robustness and measurement accuracy. After incorporating these improvements, MGA produced updated versions for further evaluation and validation.
Children are the one of the most vulnerable in our traffic system. Sweden has successfully adopted the Vision Zero which is a strategic approach towards a safe system whereby no one is at risk of being fatally or severely injured while using the road transport system. Although Sweden has a strong safety culture, with low number of fatalities, it is important to examine the facilities that do occur to gain knowledge of safety measures such as rearward facing seating for small children.
Infineon Technologies AG is expanding its sensor business with the acquisition of the non-optical analog/mixed-signal sensor portfolio from ams OSRAM Group. The two companies have entered into an agreement for a purchase price of 570 million on a debt-free and cash-free basis. With the planned investment, Infineon will strengthen its position as a leader in sensors for automotive and industrial markets through a complementary portfolio and expand its product range in medical applications.
The absence of standard side head protection for the Toyota Corolla Cross results in two stars for adult occupant protection, in the Global NCAP #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign. The model's standard safety equipment includes driver and passenger frontal airbags, side body airbags, driver knee airbag and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), but no side head protection in the South African market.
With the release 15.0 of the CarMaker product family, IPG Automotive presents the latest version of the company's simulation software. This version enhances the capabilities of virtual vehicle development through optimized integration of virtual control units, which enable software and system tests at very early development stages. In addition, users benefit from new functions for ADAS and AV as well as improved endurance testing.

SAFER welcomes I-AIMS2 - Impairment-Aware Intelligent Mobility System 2, a new partner project exploring how driver safety, well-being, and fuel efficiency can be enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence. Led by the University of Gothenburg in collaboration with Smart Eye AB, the project develops and tests a new driver support system called Sheila-Guard - a large language model (LLM) with voice feedback that can detect the driver's state and help regulate stress, fatigue, and attention.
