UN announces a GTR on Automated Driving Systems

After 10 years of technological maturation and regulatory developments, as well as two years of intensive consultations and drafting, a draft global regulation on Automated Driving Systems (ADS), will allow deployment of autonomous vehicles with no supervision by a driver, on public roads.

InReview 2025: Euro NCAP celebrates landmark Year with record-setting Safety Performance

article imageEuro NCAP introduces InReview 2025 introduces, an insightful report that looks back at what proved to be the safety organisation’s most active year since its inception in 1997. Despite a challenging economic landscape for the European automotive industry, 2025 saw Euro NCAP deliver a record 108 assessments of new cars from more than 50 global brands. Of these, a remarkable 98 per cent of all models tested achieved four stars or more.

Collaborative Research for safer Roads: MRC's Role in ANCHOR 5

article imageThe MRC Research Team is actively engaged in the fifth edition of ASEAN NCAP Collaborative Holistic Research (ANCHOR) project for 2024 2025, which aims to strengthen scientific evidence in support of the ASEAN NCAP roadmap. In collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and Universitas Nasional, Indonesia, the research focuses on evaluating critical impact locations for Side Impact and Frontal Impact tests, in accordance with global standards such as UN Regulations 94 and 95, as well as Euro NCAP protocols.

Suzuki Baleno improves while Kia achieves top Safety with the Sportage

article imageLatin NCAP publishes the ninth and last crash tests results for 2025. These results show a great reaction from Suzuki after the selection of the 2 airbags version of the Baleno, rated with one star, by standardizing the 6 airbags version and scoring two stars. The facelifted Kia Sportage achieved five stars. These are the last results before Latin NCAP updated assessment protocols bring significant safety improvements requirements in 2026.

Media Briefing highlights Pedestrian Crash Risks from large Truck Blind Spots

article imageLarge trucks pose a substantially higher risk to pedestrians than passenger vehicles, particularly during right turns, according to findings presented by the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Traffic Safety Research Institute (SFMI TSRI) during a recent media briefing. The institute identified blind spots and vehicle design as key contributors to the severity of pedestrian crashes involving large trucks.
