Nissan expands R&D with new Safety Advancement Lab in North America

Nissan has expanded its Michigan-based engineering center, Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA), with a more than $40 million dollar Safety Advancement Lab for vehicle safety testing. The new lab brings more efficiency to the vehicle development process and furthers Nissan s goal of reaching a future with virtually zero fatalities.

Stellantis shares Results of L3Pilot Automated Driving Project

article imageStellantis prestentes its contributions to the L3Pilot automated driving project at the L3Pilot final event in Hamburg, Germany, in conjunction with ITS World Congress. The event includes driving demonstrations on nearby motorways. During the four-year project, which involved a global ecosystem of 34 partners including suppliers, research institutes, road authorities and other OEMs, Stellantis  Research and Advanced Technologies teams led the driving test operations.

Digital Guardian Angel makes Urban Road Traffic in Hamburg safer

article imageVisitors to the ITS World Congress 2021 experiences first-hand how a collision warning system from Continental will act as a digital guardian angel, providing efficient protection for vulnerable road users in the future. The system, which is being further developed in collaboration with technology company Continental, Deutsche Telekom, Vitronic Dr. Ing. Stein Bildverarbeitungs GmbH and the City of Hamburg, warns of collisions in real time using a smartphone.

Rained out: Vehicle Safety Systems struggle to "See" in bad Weather

article imageNew research from AAA finds that moderate to heavy rain affects a vehicle safety system's ability to "see", which may result in performance issues. During closed course testing, AAA simulated rainfall and found that test vehicles equipped with automatic emergency braking traveling at 35 mph collided with a stopped vehicle one third (33 %) of the time. Lane keeping assistance didn t fare any better with test vehicles departing their lane 69 % of the time.

Qualcomm and SSW Partners reach Definitive Agreement to acquire Veoneer

article imageQualcomm Inc. and SSW Partners, a New York-based investment partnership announced they have reached a definitive agreement to acquire Veoneer, Inc. for $37.00 per share in an all-cash transaction, representing a total equity value for Veoneer of $4.5 billion. Veoneer has terminated its prior acquisition agreement with Magna International Inc. and canceled its October 19, 2021 special meeting that was previously scheduled to approve that agreement.

Ford RoadSafe Dashboard aims to help Drivers steer clear of hidden Hazards using Connected Car Technology

article imageWhether on the school run, going to work or doing the weekly shop, we are all familiar with stretches of road or locations where more care is needed while driving. In some cases, we may choose to avoid these locations altogether to help ensure our journeys are completed safely. Now, Ford has developed the new "RoadSafe" concept which could help alert drivers to higher risk locations and make insights of this kind available to local authorities so that they might do something about them.

Optimizing final Inspection in the Series Production of Airbag Inflators with intelligent Software from Fraunhofer
