As the automotive industry accelerates toward greater automation, safety, and regulatory compliance, the demand for precise and efficient testing solutions has never been higher. In response, UTAC and IPG Automotive proudly introduce the UTAC Scoring Set Europe 2026 - a cutting-edge virtual testing suite designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the upcoming Euro NCAP 2026 protocol for active safety.
While driving on the highways, you may feel threatened by quickly approaching vehicles from behind. Rear-end collisions may also occur due to the negligence or drowsiness of the driver of the rear vehicle. Fortunately, however, defensive driving technology that predicts the movements of rear vehicles is becoming available. Active control technology, which uses sensors to detect approaching vehicles from behind and maneuver the vehicle out of danger, is expected to hit the market soon.
The National Agency for Automotive Safety & Victim's Aid (NASVA) publishes the current versions of the JNCAP protocols for FY2024 and FY2025 in English. The current versions are available via the following links at 
A Stoughton chassis designed for container transport is the first of its kind to qualify for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's TOUGHGUARD award or superior underride protection. Wisconsin-based Stoughton, a leading manufacturer of semitrailers, previously earned the award for its dry vans and refrigerated vans. Now the company s 53-foot intermodal chassis also meets the TOUGHGUARD critiera. The award applies to models built after April 2025.
Valeo has been selected by a Premium Global Automaker for a new radar system to equip its personally-owned vehicles with a hands-off, eyes-off automated driving system. The first production nomination for this radar system will enable an expanded operational design domain of automated driving and improved human-machine response for road hazards at high speeds, among other incremental features.
The Kia EV3, Porsche Macan, Renault 5, and Toyota bZ4X all scored highly in the Euro NCAP Assisted Driving Grading assessment, designed to evaluate how safely partially automated systems are implemented by vehicle manufacturers. All four vehicles were awarded a "Very Good" rating for Assisted Driving, providing exceptional balance between driver engagement and safety backup.
The EDAG Group will now support Volvo Cars as a strategic supplier. Volvo Cars has decided to focus its research and development collaboration in the area of technical services on a few selected strategic suppliers. Having been selected as a strategic service provider, the EDAG Group will be working closely together with Volvo Cars.
Toyota Motor Corporation and Waymo reached a preliminary agreement to explore a collaboration focused on accelerating the development and deployment of autonomous driving technologies. Woven by Toyota will also join the potential collaboration as Toyota's strategic enabler, contributing its strengths in advanced software and mobility innovation. This potential partnership is built on a shared vision of improving road safety and delivering increased mobility for all.
For the first time worldwide, the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) showcased connected vehicles using non-terrestrial networks (NTN) for emergency messaging, as well as 5G-V2X Direct for advanced detection of vulnerable road users (VRU) in real-traffic conditions. 5GAA members also demonstrated the readily available capabilities of Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) services.
As self-driving cars become a reality, regulators face a pressing challenge: ensuring these vehicles not only follow the rules, but also "play nice" on the road. A new SWOV report titled "Social driving behaviour in automated driving A first look at requirements and assessment" sheds light on a crucial gap in current automated driving system (ADS) regulations-namely, how they account for social driving behaviour.
