The chances are you won't have heard of it and will never have seen one of its cars on the road, but the first two European models from Togg, Turkey's newest car company, have achieved outstanding results in Euro NCAP safety tests. The T10F, an electric family saloon, and T10X, an electric SUV, are the first models from Togg, which was founded in 2018 and started manufacturing models at the end of 2022.
Both new electric cars have been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
The 2026 update is Euro NCAP's most comprehensive and detailed safety assessment to date. The 
One third of road fatalities are pedestrians. To improve their safety, Fraunhofer EMI is developing traffic simulations that integrate detailed pedestrian models for the first time. These simulations already take into account the interaction between individuals and their reactions to obstacles, whether stationary or moving. They also model pedestrians with individual characteristics, such as goals, needs and the willingness to take risks.
Closed-course testing has been a staple of vehicle safety testing for over 100 years. Ever since General Motors opened the Milford Proving Ground in 1924, these facilities have served as crucial safety checkpoints in the automotive development process, allowing manufacturers to test new models of vehicles in controlled environments prior to public deployment.
Gatik announced Gatik Arena, its next-generation simulation platform designed to accelerate the development and validation of autonomous vehicle systems. Built in-house and fine-tuned to Gatik's operational and technical needs, Arena produces photorealistic, structured, and controllable synthetic data that directly addresses the limitations of traditional real-world data collection.
At Waymo, our goal is to make streets safer for everyone - and our strong safety record reflects that commitment. From 360-degree perception to advanced collision avoidance, many factors contribute to how we help reduce crashes on public roads. But some of the most impactful safety measures are also the simplest - such as consistently obeying speed limits, ensuring seatbelt use, and driving the safest vehicles.
As part of the France 2030 initiative, UTAC is actively contributing to the SMACS project, which aims to advance automated, connected, and low-carbon mobility services. This program is supported by Bpifrance. SMACS is a collaborative effort involving UTAC, RATP (the operator), and Milla (the autonomous shuttle manufacturer). Its objective is to develop and evaluate a driverless, supervisor-monitored autonomous mobility service.
Latin NCAP publishes the fifth crash tests result for 2025 with five stars for the recently launched Kia K4. The Kia K4 sedan and hatchback, produced in Mexico, achieved five stars. The K4 offers 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard and ADAS technologies as optional, achieved 91.87 % in Adult Occupant, 90.38 % in Child Occupant, 77.10 % in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users and 84.30 % in Safety Assist.
Aptiv PLC announced the opening of a new Software, Advanced Safety & User Experience (AS&UX) Technical Center in Chennai, India - marking a significant milestone in the company's engineering expansion in India. Spanning more than 34,000 square feet, the new facility will support up to 500 engineers by 2026 and features advanced labs and test infrastructure to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and safety-critical systems.
The introduction of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) has accelerated the evolution of the automotive sector. ADAS and AD innovations have the potential to improve the safety of vehicles, enhance comfort while driving, and make traffic more efficient. Nevertheless, designing and deploying these systems is challenging.

As Torc continues its path toward commercialization in 2027, this strategic expansion will further accelerate the company s productization efforts and tap into the region s rich automotive and technology talent pool.
SAE Group Europe is proud to play a leading role in a new European Union-funded research initiative - Hybrid Intelligence for Advanced Collective Perception and Decision Making in Complex Urban Environments (HIDDEN). This Horizon Europe project aims to improve safety in cities by enabling automated vehicles to better detect at-risk road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, and road workers, particularly in situations where visibility is obstructed.
