IIHS Award Criteria will soon include Features to address Risky Driving

zoneZ Project: ZKW researches AI-supported Road Safety together with Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences and AIT

article imageIn the joint project "zoneZ", lighting systems specialist ZKW, the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) and the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) are working on the mobility of the future. The aim is to achieve greater safety for road users with fewer electronics in cars. The team of experts from the three companies is researching a new architecture for control units that requires fewer cables in the vehicle and significantly simplifies the structure of software and sensor technology.

Active Driving Assistance: Promising Technology, Lingering Challenges

article imageAdvanced vehicle technology is becoming increasingly common, presenting both opportunities and challenges. AAA Automotive Engineers evaluated five passenger vehicles with low-speed-capable Active Driving Assistance systems, also known as Traffic Jam Assistance, in heavy traffic. The study compared hands-on and hands-off ADA performance. Notable events occurred every 9 minutes on average. The most common events were cut ins and poor lane centering.

New FAT report published: "Measures for Building and Maintaining situational Awareness in the Context of Automated Driving"

article imageAs part of a project commissioned by the Forschungsvereinigung Automobiltechnik e.V. (FAT), the WIVW investigated Measures for building and maintaining situational awareness in the context of automated driving . The project examined exemplary measures with regard to their effectiveness in either maintaining an appropriate level of situation awareness (especially at SAE level 2) or restoring it in good time (especially at SAE level 3).
