As China's New Energy Vehicle market continues to mature, its regulatory framework is evolving in tandem. For industry professionals, staying current with these changes is crucial. Nissan commenced demonstrations of its next-generation ProPILOT advanced driver-assist technology, ahead of its scheduled launch in Japan during FY27. A fleet of all-electric Nissan Ariya-based prototype vehicles demonstrated their ability to drive safely and confidently within the complex urban environment of central Tokyo.
Five out of seven electric vehicles recently tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety boast award-worthy performance in a key crash test, while two others struggle with protection for back seat passengers. Four 2025 models - the BMW i4, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Tesla Cybertruck and Volkswagen ID.Buzz - earn good ratings in the moderate overlap test. The Tesla Model 3 is rated acceptable.

Many of today's most advanced vehicles proudly display their 5-star NCAP safety ratings, and for good reason. These standardized tests have driven major safety improvements across the industry, offering a reliable benchmark for features like AEB and Crash Avoidance. But passing NCAP doesn't always mean a system is ready for the real world. Slight deviations in pedestrian appearance, road layout, or vehicle speed can cause even 5-star-rated systems to miss, delay, or fail to respond.

Toshiba has launched an automotive photorelay, "TLX9165T", in a 10 pin SO16L-T package, that supports high voltage automotive batteries with an output withstand voltage of 1800 V (min). Volume shipments start today. Improved charge times and longer cruising ranges are essential for wider adoption of electric vehicles, and both require more efficient operation of battery systems.
IPG Automotive continues its international growth path and strengthens global customer support: Since June 2025, Automated Vehicle Test Solution (AVeTS) distributes the simulation solutions from IPG Automotive in the ASEAN region. Through this partnership, customers in Southeast Asia now benefit from local technical support and direct access to software and hardware solutions from IPG Automotive.
IGLAD is the "Initiative for the Global Harmonization of (in-depth) Accident Data" and is the only continuous international effort to provide a database of in-depth accident data from different countries around the world within a unified data scheme. Data from traffic safety researchers from Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia is merged on a yearly basis into the IGLAD database.
There is no evidence to support concerns that drivers equipped with an Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) system fail to adequately reduce their speed when conditions warrant it. Both with and without ISA, drivers adjust their speed and, under unfavourable traffic conditions, drive below the speed limit.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released early estimates for motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the first half of 2025, projecting a substantial 8.2 % decline in roadway deaths. An estimated 17,140 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes from January through June 2025, down from 18,680 fatalities during the same period in 2024.
