 ANCAP releases Large Utility Safety Assessments ProgramANCAP SAFETY has examined how well large pickups protect road users by testing the crash avoidance technology fitted in these vehicles. Elemance, LLC and CDH AG announced a strategic collaboration. This partnership is established to streamline access and provide expert local technical support for the highly sophisticated Global Human Body Models Consortium (GHBMC) models across the key automotive and research markets of Europe and Japan.
A total of 23 new models has been assessed by Euro NCAP's safety experts - ahead of new tests being introduced in 2026. The selection includes a wide variety of types of cars - from electric SUVs and luxury coupés to compact crossovers and large family cars. No less than 18 models achieve a five-star rating, Euro NCAP s benchmark for outstanding safety performance and the definitive guide for consumers looking to choose a safe car.
VBOX Automotive has expanded its GNSS test equipment range with the launch of the NTRIP Base Station. The new Base Station has been engineered for our customers who rely on accurate, stable GNSS corrections. This latest release adds significant capability, combining a next-generation multi-constellation, multi-frequency GNSS engine with a built-in NTRIP server.

Vehicles with large driver-side blind zones are much more likely to strike crossing pedestrians while turning left than those with small blind zones, a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows. A large driver-side blind zone raises the risk of a left-turn pedestrian crash 70 % compared with a small blind zone, the study found.
ASEAN NCAP recently conducted assessments of two Chinese automotive brands: ZEEKR and MG. The assessed models under these two brands are ZEEKR X and MG MGS5 EV, both of which achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP ratings. The ZEEKR brand was started by Geely Holding Group in 2021. ZEEKR X is the first model under the said brand to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP.
ZF Group announced a collaboration with Horizon Robotics to launch an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) in the Chinese market, supporting up to SAE Level 3 of assisted driving and China's urban "Navigate on Autopilot" (NOA). Scheduled for mass production and delivery in 2026, the system will be applied to an electric vehicle platform of a Chinese automobile brand.
Modern vehicle technology, sophisticated assistance systems, and improved infrastructure have significantly increased road safety in recent decades. "However, 'classic' scenarios such as tree crashes, rear-end collisions at the tail end of traffic jams, truck turning accidents, or collisions with unprotected road users remain a problem," says DEKRA accident researcher Stefanie Ritter.
Thirty years ago, Claes Tingvall, adjunct professor at Chalmers' Division of Vehicle Safety, founded Vision Zero. He has now been awarded a medal by the Swedish government for his many years of work and his "extraordinary contributions to the promotion of traffic safety."
The project SAFE-FM: Safety-Enhanced and Physics-Informed Foundation Models of Vehicle Behavior aims to increase safety in future automated vehicles. By combining physics-based knowledge with artificial intelligence, new models will be developed to predict how vehicles behave in different traffic situations. This makes it possible to test and evaluate safety-critical scenarios through simulation, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming physical trials.
Integral safety plays a significant role in the design of motor vehicles, in user survey results and in reporting in specialized journals or on the internet. Development conditions change at ever shorter intervals due to new laws, rating programs and CAE methods. One focus of innovation lies in the increasing automation of driving tasks and in the phase that connects active with passive safety preventive safety. This Springer book has served as an important reference for 25 years for all those working in vehicle safety and is now available in English for the first time.
