Vehicles with large driver-side blind zones are much more likely to strike crossing pedestrians while turning left than those with small blind zones, a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows. A large driver-side blind zone raises the risk of a left-turn pedestrian crash 70 % compared with a small blind zone, the study found.

read more ... ASEAN NCAP recently conducted assessments of two Chinese automotive brands: ZEEKR and MG. The assessed models under these two brands are ZEEKR X and MG MGS5 EV, both of which achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP ratings. The ZEEKR brand was started by Geely Holding Group in 2021. ZEEKR X is the first model under the said brand to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP.

read more ... The project SAFE-FM: Safety-Enhanced and Physics-Informed Foundation Models of Vehicle Behavior aims to increase safety in future automated vehicles. By combining physics-based knowledge with artificial intelligence, new models will be developed to predict how vehicles behave in different traffic situations. This makes it possible to test and evaluate safety-critical scenarios through simulation, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming physical trials.
