ANCAP releases Large Utility Safety Assessments Program

ANCAP SAFETY has examined how well large pickups protect road users by testing the crash avoidance technology fitted in these vehicles. The inaugural Large Utilities ADAS Safety Comparison includes the current Chevrolet Silverado 1500, RAM 1500, Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series and Toyota Tundra and an updated version of the Ford F-150.

NHTSA introduces the THOR-5F

Euro NCAP announces Test Results for 23 new Cars

Vehicles with big Blind Zones spell Danger to Pedestrians during left Turns

article imageVehicles with large driver-side blind zones are much more likely to strike crossing pedestrians while turning left than those with small blind zones, a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows. A large driver-side blind zone raises the risk of a left-turn pedestrian crash 70 % compared with a small blind zone, the study found.

Two Chinese SUV Models awarded with 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Ratings

article imageASEAN NCAP recently conducted assessments of two Chinese automotive brands: ZEEKR and MG. The assessed models under these two brands are ZEEKR X and MG MGS5 EV, both of which achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP ratings. The ZEEKR brand was started by Geely Holding Group in 2021. ZEEKR X is the first model under the said brand to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP.

ZF and Horizon Robotics to jointly launch ADAS up to SAE Level 3 on the Chinese Market

article imageZF Group announced a collaboration with Horizon Robotics to launch an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) in the Chinese market, supporting up to SAE Level 3 of assisted driving and China's urban "Navigate on Autopilot" (NOA). Despite all Progress: Certain Crash Scenarios remain problematic

New SAFER Project strengthens AV Safety

article imageThe project SAFE-FM: Safety-Enhanced and Physics-Informed Foundation Models of Vehicle Behavior aims to increase safety in future automated vehicles. By combining physics-based knowledge with artificial intelligence, new models will be developed to predict how vehicles behave in different traffic situations. This makes it possible to test and evaluate safety-critical scenarios through simulation, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming physical trials.
