As part of its new Automated Vehicle Framework, NHTSA commenced rulemaking for its fifth update to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. This latest effort is a commonsense measure that would eliminate the mandate for manual brake pedals in vehicles designed to be driven exclusively by automated driving systems (ADS).

The recognition comes as regulators in the U.S., EU, and China move toward adopting the world's most advanced female crash test dummy to help close a crash-safety gap that puts women at greater risk.
Vehicle improvements spurred by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's testing program have saved nearly 50,000 lives since its launch in 1995, a new IIHS study shows. That translates to an estimated cost savings of more than $500 billion for society. "These results highlight the role of IIHS ratings in driving many of the key vehicle safety improvements of the past 30 years," said Joe Nolan, IIHS chief operating officer.
The combination of the FB small platform and the 4activeC2 vehicle target (GVT) is now officially: Euro NCAP certified up to 50 km/h - a milestone that completes the picture for labs and OEMs looking to consolidate their test setup without sacrificing coverage.
Hundreds of road deaths each year are caused by rear impact guards that offer inadequate protection to drivers and passengers in incidents with slowing or stationary trucks and trailers. That is the conclusion from Euro NCAP and collaborating safety organisations Germany's ADAC, Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the US. This followed a comprehensive testing campaign that exposes critical vulnerabilities in both vehicle crash-avoidance technology and structural safety guards fitted to the rear of trucks and trailers.
rFpro has launched AV elevate IN CABIN. The add on package enables automotive OEMs, Tier 1's and sensor developers to tune, train and test driver and occupant monitoring systems in simulation, improving the speed and consistency of in-cabin testing, and starting long before any physical prototype exists.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reported 28 % of all passenger vehicle occupant deaths involved a vehicle rollover, and a vehicle rolled over in 47 % of fatal single-vehicle crashes in 2023. Continued focus on vehicle dynamics and occupant safety aims to further decrease injuries and fatalities resulting from vehicle rollovers. Complex vehicle motion associated with rollover events presents challenges for traditional vehicle testing environments.
A newly published

Built for the era of software-defined vehicles, the SDK addresses the growing need for scalable, cost-effective solutions that enable car manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers to deploy advanced driver assistance features across vehicle platforms and geographies.
Even in countries with generally high road safety performance, alcohol in traffic remains a stubborn and recurring risk factor. At EU level, the European Commission estimates that around 25 % of all road fatalities are alcohol-related. The challenge is amplified by the fact that alcohol-impaired driving is relatively infrequent compared to total exposure, but yet it contributes disproportionately to severe outcomes.
