The car of the future is driving autonomous. You will be driven around the country like a private chauffeur while talking, reading the paper or maybe watching a video. However, although driving assistants such as automatic distance control have long been on the market, it will still take a few years before cars drive fully autonomously on the roads. For this technology must be absolutely reliable. Not least of all, it depends on the sensors. The radar sensors, for example, which are already able to independently detect obstacles and initiate full braking when things get tight. These sensors are already thoroughly tested before they are installed in the car. For the autonomous vehicle stricter requirements apply. Because if the driver no longer steers, it may be the responsibility of the vehicle manufacturer to prevent an accident.
