Digitalized Fatigue Resistance Data save Development Time

In the field of fatigue resistance characterization of plastics, the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF has developed a profound expertise in the past 25 years and has meanwhile stored more than 6,000 tested thermoplastic samples in a database. From this it is possible to derive basic relationships such as the influences of geometry, environment, aging, type of load, local fiber orientation, fill content or material type on the fatigue strength. This can significantly reduce the effort required to characterize materials and shorten development time. In addition, with the aid of such a database, it is possible to validate assumptions made in the statistical evaluation of fatigue tests.
