With this simulation tool, which depicts the actual damage and failure mechanisms in metallic materials, massive forming companies can reduce the cost of process design and shorten development times. In addition, more complex component geometries previously impossible can be realized with the new and precise simulation. "We have built the new process modular so that it can be flexibly applied to a large number of materials," explains Dr. Maksim Zapara, head of the massive forming team of the group of forming processes at the Fraunhofer IWM.
