By using SUFEHM, translational and rotational accelerations of the head can be taken into account when determining the head injury mechanisms. As a result, head injuries can be determined more accurately and also for new load cases that are related to the new seating positions that are possible with autonomous driving. By exploiting these new methods in the development process, it will be possible to develop structures that are optimized against biomechanical injury criteria, including the challenging aspect of minor head injuries.
