Permanent magnets for electric cars and wind turbines currently contain rare earth metals. Their share is set to decline as damage to health and the environment takes place as these valuable resources are produced. A new machine-learning tool in magnet development helps predict the ferromagnetic crystal properties of new material compositions quickly and easily.
