If a component is composed of several parts, millimeter-accurate work is decisive for the quality of the final product. Manufacturing industries, like the automotive industry, needs a reliable quality control, which integrates seamlessly into the manufacturing process. In cooperation with Daimler AG, TIGRIS Elektronik GmbH and Ensenso GmbH, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD has developed a fully automatic system for optical quality assurance in vehicle construction as part of the "Scrutinize3D" project. The aim was to establish a methodology that fully automates quality control of composite components on the production line. The project was completed in early 2019 and the system is now ready for use - in automotive or other manufacturing industries.
