The 
Convergent Science, Argonne National Laboratory, and Parallel Works received the 2021 HPCwire Readers' Choice Award for the Best Use of High-Performance Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence. The team was nominated for developing a scalable, automated, and adaptive machine learning-genetic algorithm (ML-GA) workflow and demonstrating its capability to significantly accelerate virtual prototyping for the optimization of an advanced heavy-duty internal combustion engine design.
Research data should be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. So far, however, they are often decentralized, project-related or only available for a limited period of time. The National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) initiative aims to counteract this with a permanent digital repository of knowledge. In the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), valuable data from science and research will be systematically accessed, networked and made usable in a sustainable and qualitative manner for the entire German science system.
The two partners are specifically addressing simulation data management (SDM) in virtual product development. The core benefit for simulation engineers: maximum integration of innovative solutions and services for end-to-end data and process management - in the cloud and on-premise. In the future, GNS Systems will also integrate SCALE.sdm on its engineering cloud platform, the Digital Engineering Center.

Additive manufacturing of metals using selective laser melting allows great design freedom. However, the very fast heating and cooling cycles during layer-by-layer build, lead to thermal distortions that can cause misprints as well as negatively affect part properties. Simulation of the build process can predict and compensate for the distortions, avoiding the time and cost of misprints.

In contrast, however, e-cars need to attract the attention of their surroundings acoustically.
