Seminar: Robust Design - Vehicle Development Under Uncertainty

article imageThe seminar conveys the current state of the art of numerical detection and control of uncertainties in vehicle development. Aspects of sensitivity and robustness analysis are dealt with as well as questions of reliability, resilience, redundancy, model uncertainty and numerical methods for optimization under consideration of these uncertainties. Thanks to the methods of model reduction the numerical effort can also be realized in an industrial context.

The trainer Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Fabian Duddeck has been leading a research group on optimization and robustness at the TU Munich since 2010. The focus of his work is on numerical methods for structural optimization with regard to crash, NVH and other functional requirements.

Simplifying Simulation Scenario Design and Execution: A Guide to Creating and Configuring FERAL Simulation Scenarios with YAML

article imageCreating and configuring simulation scenarios is effort-intensive and time-consuming, mainly because each scenario requires a unique set of configurations, parameters, and settings, making the procedure time-consuming and error-prone. This complexity not only reduces productivity but also increases the learning curve for simulation specifiers and designers. What if there was a way to streamline this process, making simulation specification and configuration as straightforward as editing a simple text file?

TU Graz: A Second Life for Batteries

article imageIn 2030, around 1.2 million batteries from electrically powered cars, buses and construction machinery will be decommissioned worldwide because they will reach the end of their planned service life, their warranty will expire or the vehicles will be scrapped. Around 14 million discarded batteries are expected as early as 2040. Discarded lithium-ion cells from electric cars could be reused as stationary power storage units. Researchers at Graz University of Technology have determined the first indicators for a reliable assessment of their condition.
