 Euro NCAP releases its Year in Numbers for 2022: China and Electric Vehicles predominateEuro NCAP releases its annual Year in Numbers where Euro NCAP considers the highs and lows as well some of the emerging trends of the year that have appeared throughout one year of results. 2022 will be remembered as a record year. IDIADA's Test Facility Design team has designed and implemented a significant test track maintenance plan during the 2022/23 winter season. The main objectives of this work have been to maximize the safety of users, ensure that our testing surfaces remain in optimum conditions, and to increase testing options for Proving Ground customers.
The AWARE2ALL consortium, coordinated by the Spanish RTO Vicomtech and comprising 16 European organisations, has been selected by the EU's key funding program for research and innovation, Horizon Europe, to develop inclusive and innovative safety and Human Machine Interface systems to pave the way towards Highly Automated Vehicles deployment in traffic. A special focus will be put on underrepresented populations to ensure that results provide safety to any (type of) occupant and Human Road User).
At the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI), NVH testing now plays a major role in fostering the evolution of cars throughout China and beyond. CAERI operates various advanced facilities where its engineers use measurement technologies from Kistler for NVH tests on vehicles and their components.
LG Electronics announced a technical collaboration with Magna. The two companies have signed an agreement to develop a proof of concept for an automated driving-infotainment solution, aimed at providing differentiated customer experiences and enabling readiness for the future of mobility. Under the agreement, LG and Magna will explore the technical feasibility of integrating LG's infotainment capabilities with Magna's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and automated driving technologies.
NTT DATA, Valeo, and Embotech announce the next big step to provide automated parking solutions. Together, the three companies have built a consortium, VEN.AI, that aims to be the go-to solution provider for production ready parking automation with global roll out capabilities. The consortium combines each company s core competencies including owned IP, the latest technology, sales and support structure and strong operations offerings.
NXP Semiconductors announced a new industry-first 28nm RFCMOS radar one-chip IC family for next generation ADAS and autonomous driving systems. The new SAF85xx one-chip family combines NXP s high performance radar sensing and processing technologies into a single device, offering tier ones and OEMs new flexibility in addressing short, medium and long range radar applications to serve ever more challenging NCAP safety requirements.
Technology company Continental presents its Curved Ultrawide Display at CES 2023. "Ultrawide" refers to a width of 1.29 meters, curving from one A-pillar to the other. The 47.5 inch TFT display is illuminated by more than 3,000 LEDs on a 7,680 by 660 pixel active area. The matrix backlight produces excellent high-contrast picture quality and also offers the option of dimming individual areas of the screen that are not needed. This local dimming technology saves power and improves readability.
Calspan and Link Engineering Company are thrilled to announce they are joining forces to develop new, advanced technologies for tire testing. The partnership leverages decades of experience; Calspan's expertise in tire testing and research with LINK's leadership in designing innovative test equipment for the transportation industry.
Highly automated, software-defined vehicles and digital services of the future require strong networking and the exchange of large amounts of data. The ZF ProConnect connectivity platform connects vehicles with the cloud and with the traffic infrastructure. The platform is one of the first on the market to meet the highest security requirements. The first major order from an international vehicle manufacturer has already been received the product will go into series production in 2025.
High-resolution radar sensors and solutions that are capable of precisely and selectively capturing their environment while providing height, distance, and speed information, are a key technology in the development of self-driving vehicles. dSPACE is therefore expanding its product family of radar target simulators for the testing of automotive 4-D sensors by a system that allows for the precise simulation of two radar targets with high resolution.
Another project born out of the project creation workshop series as SAFER hosted in 2021, with the mission to create strong application to the Horizon Europe framework program, has startup; ROADVIEW - Robust Automated Driving in Extreme Weather. Complex environment and traffic conditions have a major impact on the traffic safety and operations of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs).
