AB Dynamics' LaunchPad Spin, its highly manoeuvrable ADAS target platform, has been approved for use in official testing by Euro NCAP. It is the latest addition to the company's growing range of officially listed test equipment, providing approved target and propulsion solutions for car, motorcycle and pedestrian test scenarios.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has updated several test protocols. The current versions are available via the following links at 
Euro NCAP releases the safety ratings for three trendy crossovers: the NIO EL6, the new Toyota C-HR, and Honda's CR-V. The NIO EL6 and the Toyota C-HR achives 5 star Euro NCAP ratings. The Honda CR-V achive a 4 Star Euro NCAP rating.
IDIADA has commenced construction to expand the ADAS / CAV Urban Area track at our Proving Ground near Barcelona in l'Albornar, Spain. The works will add a 3-4 lane, 541 m straight to the urban ring and also additional Vulnerable Road Users crossing areas are being added to the main avenue section.
TNCAP has released two assessment results. The LEXUS NX received a five-star rating and HONDA FIT received a four-star rating.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation announced that they are partnering with KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), to develop next-generation autonomous driving sensors. Together, Hyundai Motor, Kia and KAIST will establish the 'Hyundai Motor Group-KAIST On-Chip LiDAR Joint Research Lab' at KAIST in Daejeon to develop LiDAR sensors for advanced autonomous vehicles.
Stellantis Ventures, the corporate venture fund of Stellantis N.V., announced it has invested in SteerLight, the developer of a new generation of high-performance LiDAR sensing technology. Employing silicon photonics technology, which combines a universal semiconductor material with the speed of photos, the SteerLight LiDAR senses the surrounding environment in three dimensions with higher resolution and precision, and at a lower volume production cost, than currently available LiDAR systems.
OxTS announced that its GNSS-aided Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are now supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE autonomous vehicle (AV) development platform. The software plug-in, developed in-house by OxTS using the NVIDIA DriveWorks SDK, runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin developer kit.
Quectel Wireless Solutions and Rohde & Schwarz have successfully validated Quectel's innovative 5G eCall module, part of the AG56xN series of automotive modules. For the test, the R&S CMX500 wideband radio communication tester has been used. The AG56xN series represents a cutting-edge line of 5G NR modules, leveraging the MediaTek MT2735 chipset to provide exceptional connectivity solutions.
The research and development project "DEKOR-X (Dezentraler Kommunikationsraum Kreuzung, ENG: Decentralised Communication at Junctions)" has reached an important milestone. In March, the setup of the public test junction at B173 / Kulmbacher Straße in Kronach was successfully completed. This paves the way for testing decentralized vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication with test vehicles.
The world of autonomous driving is evolving rapidly, and with it, the need for robust, standardised communication systems for automated vehicles has become more crucial than ever. The ROADVIEW project is contributing to the standardisation efforts of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute in the Intelligent Transportation System domain, specifically focusing V2X communication between autonomous vehicles and infrastructure-based decision-making systems.
