Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.'s curtain airbag, one of the company s safety systems, has been adopted for use on the LS9 from Chinese luxury BEV brand IM Motors. This is the first time a Toyoda Gosei airbag has been used by a Chinese automaker.
Over the past decade, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have moved from niche features to mainstream expectations. Adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automated parking, and traffic jam assist now appear on vehicles across multiple segments, not just luxury flagships.
A new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety finds that from 2018 to 2022, advertisements emphasizing vehicle performance increased even as deaths linked to speeding and aggressive driving continued to mount. Forty-three percent of vehicle ads aired during 2018, 2020 and 2022 highlighted speed, maneuverability, traction, stopping or power. The focus on performance grew over time, and speed was emphasized more than twice as often as safety, the researchers found.
A new AAA survey reveals a growing concern among drivers: headlight glare. Six in ten drivers say glare is a problem after dark, and nearly three-quarters of those affected believe it has worsened over the past decade. The findings are renewing concerns about road safety, headlight regulations, and modern lighting standards.
