The announcement symbolises the company’s philosophy of boosting safety through sharing knowledge that helps saving lives and comes on the sixty-year anniversary of what may have been the most important invention in the history of automotive safety, the three-point safety belt.

Millbrook expands Motorsport Offering with FIA Testing

Millbrook is now approved to carry out homologation tests on competition seats against FIA standard 8855-1999. Seats homologated against the standard get a five-year rating, showing that they have achieved the required level of safety.

Engineering Researcher works to make Auto Seatbelts safer for obese People

Crash tests and real-world crash data show that obese people don’t fare as well in frontal car crashes as people who are not obese. The obese are far more likely to suffer injury, particularly to the legs and feet, and are significantly more likely to die in a crash.

This is becoming more pressing as vehicles become stronger, use different sources of power and are equipped with an increasing number of safety devices.

Automakers report Progress on Standard AEB

Ten automakers report equipping more than half of the vehicles they produced between Sept. 1, 2017, and Aug. 31, 2018, with automatic emergency braking (AEB), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced. This is the second update of manufacturer progress toward equipping every new passenger vehicle with the crash avoidance technology by Sept. 1, 2022.

New Seat Belt Locking Mechanisms Aim to improve Child Safety

To reduce the risk of seat belt entrapment, NHTSA sought designs for countermeasures that would prevent entrapment while still meeting seat belt lockability requirements. Tool, Inc., a product design and development firm, designed and developed prototype designs over the course of a Phase I and Phase II (Small Business Innovation Research) effort.
